The City of Manitowoc faces an unemployment rate of 10%. That's roughly 3,400 citizens - or an entire Aldermanic District - out of work, and that is unacceptable.
Government can't just put these citizens back to work. However, we can create an environment that is conducive to attracting new businesses and that fosters the expansion of businesses already located in our community.

REPEAL RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
Having the best and brightest minds working at City Hall goes hand-in-hand with making ourselves marketable to prospective businesses. Department directors are the ones that drive policy and are on the front line when it comes to creating a business-friendly environment. Requiring future department heads to live within the city limits is one of the greatest blunders the City Council has made in the last year.
